A. Huxley in Sanary - A condensed biography A

Introduction

Table of Contents

Aldous Huxley is the author of forty-eight books. His career spanned two distinct periods; first Europe from his native England to Italy and France where he produced his early major literary work, then America where in 1937 he became a respected philosopher, even if he did not favour the term. Through the course of his life Huxley has also managed to build himself a reputation as an essayist, and never stopped communicating with a network of brilliant intellectuals.

Man of 16000 letters, he exchanged thoughts and opinions on countless subjects with numerous correspondents, artists and scientists; many of them reputed thinkers of their time. My first step was to obtain the Correspondence and Bedford’s biography, which after reading gave a better idea of what kind of man Huxley was. The following is my condensed biographical notice based on many various data.
